William C. Noble, Licensed Psychoanalyst
I work with individuals and couples whose lives have been interrupted by depression, anxiety, mourning, and trauma. Psychotherapy, like pastoral care and psychoanlysis, is “soul work” – self expression in the presence of a trusted friend and guide. In this safe space of the therapeutic relationship, thoughts and feelings, dreams and fantasies, desires and fears are given voice -- loud and clear, and without judgment. Authentic verbal and emotional expression is transformative. As dysfunctional patterns of thought and behavior become clear, as shattered parts of the self are recognized and linked, a new wholeness is achieved which offers the courage to change and the joy of freedom. The goal is wholeness and health and happiness.
I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy, the modern version of classical psychoanalysis with its rich tradition of theory and healing extending back more than a century. After thirty years in ministry and twenty years in the Army Chaplaincy, I began my training in Marriage and Family Counseling and Psychoanalysis at Blanton-Peale Institute in New York City. I was licensed in New York State in 2006 and then Certified in New Jersey in 2016 when this certification became available.
Experienced Reliable Trusted
As an Episcopal Priest (44 years) and retrired Army Chaplain, I have years of experience helping people recover from anxiety and depression, trauma and loss. As a psychotherapist, I am always sensitive to the inter-personal character of the work; and as a Spiritual Director, my work is the care of souls.
